Colorado State Chess Association

Colorado State Chess Association - History

Dear fellow Colorado Chess players,

We are hoping to include a link to a photo of each of the players listed here. Rick Nelson is ready to receive any photos that you have that can help to fill in the gaps. Most of the more recent (1990's) photos, especially in the scholastic section, are not up on the site yet and many of the photos that I scanned in off of old Informants are not of the best quality. Please update any photos that you can of yourself or others. Please try to make the time frame of the event fit the photo (IE don't send in a recent photo of yourself for a tournament you won back in the 1960's, send a 1960's photo!) Please email photos to Rick at rick@ramdesigns.com

This section of the website is a huge work in progress, so please be patient. Eventually, we would like to expand it and add on new categories, such as an Obituary section for our fallen comrades.

Here is what I believe is a fairly complete list of major tournament winners, state champions, club champions, organizers, and CSCA trivia and records. Many of the older records were compiled by the late John Harris. I have checked much of what is presented below with many of the CSCA "Old Timers" for their thoughts and recollections. There are a few gaps (especially in the late 1980's and early 1990's in the Scholastic Section) below and possibly a few inaccuracies (but hopefully, not many!)? I welcome any corrections, additions, or omissions that you may find. Also, please let me know if there is some category that you would like to see included on the list below.
