The Durango Chess Club won its match against Farmington, New Mexico, a rival chess club just across the border. (The previous match between the two clubs, held in Farmington, ended in a tie.) 13-year-old Thomas Wilbert is Durango's rising star. He was the individual leader in the tournament, finishing with a perfect 3-0 score, ahead of two class A and four class B players! Pairings were adjusted to maximize play between the clubs.
